What is MMA?
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a highly functional full-contact combatsport. Training MMA is ultimate challenge for your body and mind.
MMA contains three different fighting dimensions:
- Stand-up fighting: the part of the sport which contains stiking and kicks (Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwando, Sambo);
- Clinch: action in clinching, takedowns and throws (Judo, Freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu)
- Ground fighting: is all about ground control, dominant positions and submission holds (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Sambo, Catch wrestling, Submission grappling).
MMA classes in Võimla
The most diverse training is happening on our mats in Karlova. You do not have to have experience of all distances but previous (combat) sport skills are beneficial. We have people who have trained wrestling, judo, boxing and other sports as well (power lifting, rowing, basketball). We have given a lot of people their first experience in combat sports.
To join our MMA-team you need to first commit to our beginners’ courses to learn the basics of Brazilian jiu jitsu and MMA. You can take two courses at the same time or successively. During those courses you will become more familiar with all distances used in MMA that you can combine in more advanced lessons.
MMA is versatile, exciting and it challenges your mind and body. All training sessions are different and there is always room for development. Great high-intensity training is guaranteed and in addition you’ll get more familiar with basic self-defense skills, raise your self-esteem, help you cope with your stressful life and supports a healthy lifestyle with your new friends.
